andrew...
I have recently come across the an ex-serviceman with "Major, CRD."
after his name.

Never having heard of a "CRD" I tried looking in Whitaker's, but
nothing. A web search has also proven negative in this context, as has a
visit to a Glossary of Acronyms site.

Please, what might a CRD be?

Any hint of teeth ?
CRD=Centre for Restorative Dentistry (Halton)

I thought of Commander, Royal Dragoons, though Major seems a lowly rank
for such a position. Major General would fit, though:

I think it might stand for Major Commander

Sorry used the wrong url and now I can't find it again !!!!

David A' Rebel...
It could also mean Canadian Royal Dragoons

andrew...
Thank you all for your thoughts and speculations.

This morning I found the answer. It is such a simple one and so obvious
that I am almost too ashamed to admit to what it is.

I did not know that the subject had a middle name and guess what? His
initials are CRD.

Graeme Wall...
That'll be you then...

A qiuck and not very extensive web-search threw up this
which sugests it might stand for "community relations department" of
the Sally Army in the USA.
