Here is what I gathered quickly on who owns and funds FTM, to write to on
chronic shortcomings of FTM.

WRONG! And the program has gone through even more hands that what you
indicated.

Sherry, of course she is wrong !
What is worst is that had she simply checked the archives she would
have seen that none of this is new- even her complaints about FTM's
shortcomings are just re-hashed complaints we've heard for years made
by several others who also started a campaign against FTM; and they all
got nowhere.
If this is an example of Dora's research skills I shudder to think what
may be in her genealogy files.

For a history of FTM (well, actually Paul Burchfield's association with
the program, but it goes to the founding of Banner Blue, the company
that developed FTM and the companies that acquired the program over the
FTM v2 DOS was my first genealogy computer program - I purchased it in
1993.

Well, someone other than me remembers the Banner Blue days and Paul
Burchfield. After Banner Blue you had to buy a program to tell who
owned FTM. Dropping UFT and FO was like keeping the bath water and
throwing out the babies.
I 'spect Cheryl, Bruce B. and Bob V. will admit to having blown out 21
candles on their birthday cake, too.

Remember back when BB became Broderbund and we all wondered if
Broderbund was Swedish for BannerBlue? ;)

You don't have a program with an All-Star ancestor report either?

For some real pre-history--
Back in the 1980s I used a Banner Blue program--OrgChartPlus, I believe
it was named--which I used to generate organization charts. This was
long before windows, and the graphics tricks it could handle were very,
very good for its time. One of the programs in the package was named
org.asm--perhaps that's what put them in mind of developing a genealogy
program.

FTM's ownership is a regular web. Grin. From my collection of notes:
I could use any clarification anyone can shed. But all the key players are
here!
