Hello guys , Is there a ' work around ' for those few webpages that will
not ' save ' to your computer ? , As in getting a message after the
download / save has started saying
" this page could not be saved to that location "

Well, it's either the page doing it, or the location you're trying to
write to. First, try to save it somewhere you know you can save, like
right to the desktop. If that doesn't work, then yeah, they're doing
something creative. Most likely they're using javascript. Disable
javascript, visit the page, and then if you can get it, you should be

I was able to save the page with no problem in Firefox. I saved it has a
web page complete to my desktop. It saves it in 2 parts. One as a file
called counties england.html and the other as a folder called counties
england_files. By clicking on the file, I get the entire page intact on my
browser.

able to save it.
If not, then post a link and I'm sure a couple of us would love to dig
around and see what they're doing.

The owner of the page could very well have a java script running on the
page preventing the saving of anything on the page to a viewer's
computer. Turn off java in your browser and try again. If your browser
won't run java scripts the site can't stop the download.

Try CTRL-A to select the whole page, CTRL-C to copy what you've selected,
and then open up your word processor and pasting the copy into it there and
then save it.

please give us the URL so we can play with it
possibly a different browser or view source might do it
it is on your machine in the cache anyway

This is a good approach ONLY if what he wants is all on that screen. If, as
I suspect, there's more materal that he has to scroll down for, then this is
not so good.

Another approach is to open your genealogy program, enter a fact for a given
individual, and then pasting the copy into your program's source citation
screen(s). You can do this with RootsMagic when you create a new source.
Once done, it's saved in your program and you can always call it up later
for future citations.
