Mark Roy...
Can anyone point me to a resource that gives the dates of establishment
of churches in Montreal? Specifically, I'm looking for churches that
existed in 1844.

Denis Beauregard...
In 1844, you had only Notre-Dame in Montreal. All other parishes
were in suburbs (at that time, since today nearly all the island
was merged to Montreal).

For a list of parishes, I suggest 2 web pages:

By county

By town

J-Roger Cloutier...
Bonjour Mark,

There were two churches in Montreal proper then. Notre-Dame (Catholic,
est. 1678) and Christ Church Cathedral (Protestant, est. 1766).

Four other Catholic churches existed in areas around Montreal that were
not part of Montreal but that are today.

My reference for this is the Canadian Catholic Church Directory by
Novalis. As for Christ Church, I have not noted the reference.

Salut !
