GUILLORYMD...

GERMANY, MOVED TO OKLAHOMA, MY GRANDFATHER JOHN CLINGENPEEL ONE OF 13
KIDS.

THANKS FOR THE HELP

angus...
You may already know this, but "Clingenpeel' is clearly not the
original form of the name. It could possibly have been 'Klingenbeil' (1
entry under this name in the German phonebook), though the -beil is
pronounced as in English 'bile', or it could have come from the more
common "Klingebiel" (740 hits in the German telephone book), where the
-biel is pronounced as 'beel'.
A web search on Klingenbeil throws up links (153!), amongst which
passenger lists, and a search on Klingebiel throws up links (279,000!)

Henning Boettcher...
There is also the similar German name Klingebeil, see phone
directory.
