Has anyone out there ever come across a marriage between William
Crennan and Catherine Malone in 1857 or 1858 in their Roman Catholic
parish registers? William was from the North Kilkenny area around
Castlecomer/Clogh, but the wedding is not in the local parish records,
so it may be they got married in her parish, but I have no idea where
she was from, definitely not from his area. Unfortunately this area is
close to Laois which is in a different diocese where I don't have any
visibility on what records exist. Also I think she was a widow when
they married, aged about 35. Would it be customary to register the
marriage in her maiden name or the name of her 1st husband?

The Griffiths Valuation Index has the following Crenna / Malone that
appear in the same location[see below]
If she was a widow I believe she would have married Crennan using
her previous married name, not her maiden name.
It is possible that her marriage to Crenna may have been registered in
the parish of her maiden name, usually an adjoining parish if you can't
find them in Castlecomer.
It was common for the recording of marriage/birth/baptism to take
place in the spouse/mother parish not that of the husband/father.
