Italian birth certificates

Hi everyone. I am trying to locate relatives of my grandfather Carlo
Di Berardino. I believe he was born on July 16, 1897 in Sant' Egidio,
Teramo area. Can anyone tell me how I can get his birth certificate in
Italy so that I amy find out who his parents were and may be able to
find relatives. I am visiting Italy in April 2007 and would like to
meet my relatives. Thank you for any help you can give me.

The standard procedure is to write in Italian to

IL COMUNE DI SANT'EGIDIO

ITALY

and request the certificate, giving as much detail, such as birth date, as
possible.
