Andrew Ford, in his 1896, "History of the Origin of the Town of Clinton,
Massachusetts," shows John GOSS (1693-c1746) as son of Phillip GOSS & Mary
PRESCOTT. Secondary sources give John GOSS's wife as Mary WOODS (c1694-1765), a
descendant of Olive (WELBY) FARWELL on this line...

__Samuel WOODS & Hannah FARWELL
___John GOSS & Mary WOODS

Needless to say, Olive WELBY has "interesting" ancestry, well documented in
numerous publications, including the most recent edition of Douglas Richardson's
"Magna Carta Ancestry: a Study in Colonial and Medieval Families" (2005.
Genealogical Publ. Co., Baltimore, MD). There is no doubt Olive WELBY married
Dea. Henry FARWELL and had a son Joseph FARWELL, but from this point, I start
depending on secondary sources. Secondary sources are consistent in supporting
the above line (connecting Mary WOODS, wife of John GOSS, to Olive WELBY), but
does anyone know if the documentation for this connection has been published
anywhere? My search, so far, has come up dry.

I'd love to accept the connection, but I've learned my lesson about not
accepting secondary sources when it comes to connections to illustrious
ancestors. And while I'm prepared to do the work to document the connection,
myself, I can't see duplicating the effort if someone has already done it
(especially as I live in Florida with no prospect of getting to New England).
