Late in the discussion on Adam Ottley of Lynn, MA, I read John Brandon's
earlier reference to a 1916 NEHGR citation. Finding the precise
citation
NEHGR 70 (April 1916):183
I find it reads:
"Humphrey-Otley - It is known that Adam Otley of Lynn, Mass., married a
daughter of John Humphrey, and the following record shows this daughter
was Elizabeth: 1 August 1648. administration on the goods of Adam Otley,
late in parts beyond the sea, was granted to Elizabeth, his relict.
(P.C.C., Administration Act Book, fo., 92).
With this proof that Ottley's wife was named Elizabeth, given the other
evidence I find the identification of Adam Ottley's wife as Elizabeth
Humphrey (bapt, 23 Nov 1623, Fordington, Dorset), daughter of John and
Elizabeth (Pelham) Humphrey, to be compelling.

Agreed. I would like to see how good a case can be made that Adam Otley
of Lynn is indeed the son of the man in the London & Shropshire
visitations.
On the 1623 Shropshire Visitations, I find it typical (and typically
frustrating) that web-search books has volume 2 but not volume 1.

Oh--it actually is in web-search books--a link to vol. 1 only is found on
Chris Phillips' site.
