Thanks, John.

Do you know of a way to find out more than just the title of the "Notes
and Queries" volume? Without knowing the volume number or year it would
make this particular fragment hard to hunt down. In any case, from the
snippet available, it appears that all of the information was taken from
the entry in Lechford's notebook that was the impetus and starting point
for my own research several years ago. What I am interested in is what
the surrounding material was--what it said about John Stratton, and in
what context.

I agree that it's very frustrating not to be able to tell which volume,
series, etc. is being viewed. The only thing I can think of is
entering random words to see if you can come up with a snippet near the
top of the page that includes a page heading--you might get a year,
series no., or date that way. Sorry ....
