In Macnamara's book "Memorials of the Danvers Family" page 232 it has Edward
Langford's father as Robert Langford, son of William Langford (Sheriff of
Berks and Oxon) and Anne Beverley, daughter of Sir John Beverley. Anne was the
sister of
Elizabeth Beverley who married John Dauntsey. That would make Edward's
daughter Alice and her husband John Stradling 3rd cousins. I have seen in an
earlier posting that Joan (de la Pole) Stonor called Edward "cousin." I do not
know how this fits in.
Is this ancestry correct? Does anyone know any more about Edward's family?

There are articles in the series "Reports of the friends of Lydiard
Tregoze", probably issue numbers 14 and 15, on this connection. There
are copies of these in the Central Library, Swindon, England and those
copies list major libraries around the world who also have taken
copies. Some of the articles are well researched.
Certainly I have found this Landford [sic] line through those articles.

What does that mean? Are you now inventing errors just so you can
_sic_ them?

Is not Mr Powys-Lybbe simply using "sic" to indicate that he intended
to type 'Landford' rather than 'Langford'? This does not imply that
someone else incorrectly wrote 'Landford' (an assumed error that not
surprisingly is unapparent from the two original posts).
Doubtless he has his reasons for this orthographic preference, and
perhaps if we ask him nicely he will share them.

All I am meaning is that in the articles I found the name was spelt
Landford, it was indeed thus (ie 'sic'). I would not be surprised if
both spellings were current at those times, so neither may be in error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
