Do American cable companies offer this? Our cable TV company UPC
(France) connected a new modum to our TV. It has a built in hard drive
so you can download TV programs, movies and the like and play them back
whenever you want without a DVD or VHS player.

I've had one for a year -- and it also records high def (1080i or
720p).

That's ironic. One of the DVR (Digital Video Recorder) manufacturers
is Scientific Atlanta.

Yay verily and forsure. I'm having one installed Saturday with high
speed internet
and DVR. I will try to keep up with Free Speech TV, Link TV and UCTV
on-line.
I lose those channels in the deal with Knology, but gain OLN, SPAN3,
Hallmark
and others.and dependable receipt of local channels when it rains.
They say that the DVR handles HDTV and does everything that Tivo does.
I'll never miss Dr Who again.

I guess you're referring to the old Dr. Who, since there isn't
a new one that I've heard of. Lalla Ward, who plays Romana
is nowadays the wife of Richard Dawkins. They were
introduced to each other by Douglas Adams who wrote "The
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and who had earlier been
one of the writers for Dr. Who.

argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves" -- Wm. Pitt the Younger
