To surge or not to surge?

Democracy Now informed me that the Marines invaded Haiti in 2004.
The folk singer So An Auguste was on to talk about being held under
arrest without charge for two years.
They are getting some help.
That is the question that seems to have GWB stumped.

I'm just wondering if anyone is seriously considering one specific risk
of an increase in the troop level as is being proposed by the
neo-conservatives.

One aspect of war that they don't seem to understand is the
unpredictability of events in war. Now, I have a lot of respect for the
young men and women who are carrying the weight of this war. I also
cannot imagine the additional stress that a surge will place on these
young people, especially one of 18 to 24 months as proposed by the
American Enterprise Institute. Face it, these young men and women are
human and subject to the the same weaknesses as the rest of the species.
A nineteen year old, deprived of home and hearth, subjected to
repeated action, and without much life experience will make mistakes.
Increasing the pressure will increase the number of incidents that will
cost us dearly. Every Haditha, Mahmudiyah, Hamdania, Fallujah, and Abu
Gharib drive us deeper into this quagmire and further away from security.

Our chickenhawk leaders, not having any combat experience, do not seem
to understand that. Rather, they seem to view our military in some
Hollywood version of Top Gun or Rambo. They have no understanding of
the risk of decisions that are made by individuals in battle that are
used by the adversary to advantage. That, IMV, is irresponsible.
