I came upon a hearing on internet access rules pending
new legislation. The oral testimony of the FTC were
weasel worded B.S.. They provided written testimony
which was not shared. Vinton Cerf (web-search) came on to
dispute the threat to internet openess and loss of access
to servers depending on the service provider (ISP)
permitting it.
Is anyone keeping up?

I have been reading all that I can on "Net Neutrality". It is a
difficult topic. I question whether our congress members would be able
to understand it and they should not be allowed to vote on it.

Here is Vint Cerf's testimony before the Senate Committee:
This is the latest battle in the long war over who controls the Internet
and how services are priced. So far the telephone companies seem to be
winning.
Information Week sums it up:
"Phone and cable companies want to give preferential treatment to
high-priority Internet traffic and charge premium prices for it. But Web
site operators and content providers such as Amazon.com and web-search are
pushing back, fearing that today's neutral Internet will devolve into a
multimedia toll system that's more expensive for them and not affordable
for others."

After checking a bit it seems like there is desire to turn the
internet into a toll road for some content like pay per view, but paid
for at the provider end to win the favor of people who own the pipes
all along the route. I tend to favor the demand driven model where I
can decide that I want to try the new guys where the new guy has
bought internet connection that he scales to the growth of his
business and I have bought a connection to support my expected demands.
