Rumpelstiltskin...
I'm not going to comment on any recent events, tempting though
that might be, because I don't yet have the zest to follow up. I'm
still thinking only of how I can't get enough sleep and there isn't
any position that's comfortable for long. Things are a lot better
though. I can walk easily without the walker. My excretory system

William Boyd...
Are you trying to say you are glad to get the tube out, so you could do
it naturally.

Rumpelstiltskin...
The catheter was an offense to dignity and an
inconvenience in every way.

seems to be returning to something resembling normal. I even
walkered down to the supermarket a whole block away last week
to pick up a few supplies. What I bought was so heavy that when
I got back to my door, I had a stranger on the street haul my
groceries up the steps to my front door, then one of the girls
downstairs hauled them up the steps to my flat. I'd attached a rope
to the bannister so that I could haul the groceries up the steps from
my front door to my flat, but I'd neglected to consider how much
liquids weigh, so I was glad for the help.

William Boyd...
To bad you can't get a shopping cart to wheel around and bring your
groceries home in.

Rumpelstiltskin...
When I had the walker, I walked to the supermarket and picked
up some groceries. I attached the groceries to my walker to walk
them home. I'd rigged up a rope so that I could tie the groceries to
them and haul them up after I got upstairs, but luckily a neighbor
was home, and she took them up for me. I say luckily, because
I'd bought a few liquids and the burden was heavier than I'd
anticipated.

Visiting nurse came by yesterday, for the last time since she said
everything was progressing very well so there was no reason for
her to come anymore. Physical therapy today and Friday, and a
post-op visit to my surgeon on Friday. That's my world for the

William Boyd...
Do you have a stationary bike, that is what they used on me and I bought
one for the house
after they took the robot leg exercising machine away.

Rumpelstiltskin...
A friend had a stationary bike in his living room as an
unattractive decoration once. It was a Christmas present
from his employees. It was well-intentioned, to be sure,
but I doubt he used it any longer than he was prompted by
guilt at not being appreciative to use it. I feel the same
way about exercise bikes, and about anything else that has
the word "exercise" in it. You might as well buy me an iron
maiden as an exercise bike. I'd be about equally likely to
want to use either.

present, and I don't have the heart to kvetch about politics again
yet, and probably not for a couple of weeks. I'm glad I could type
this much because that means I could sit down this long without
feeling I really had to change my position. Love to you all. I'll
probably drop a couple of little notes like this before I'm back for
good, which will probably be about when I can drive again and
go out for breakfast happily,

Islander...
Thanks for the update. Hope your recovery is quick. We need your help
holding back the hoards of right reactionaries!

Alan Lichtenstein...
Glad you're progressing well. Hope you'll be back to your old usual
self shortly.

Best wishes.

Rumpelstiltskin...
Thank you. I seem to be a little peppier today, as you will
have noticed. I can sit down much more comfortably than
I could before, in order to type this. I'm going to try to stay
away from politics, though even in this thread I've already
weakened slightly. I should know better, as should we all.
Arguing about politics is an utterly fruitless enterprise. The
best anyone can do is move to San Francisco where the
hands of the thronging ghouls elsewhere throughout the
USA seem to have difficulty reaching. Maybe there are
blesséd spirits guarding our bridges.

Welcome back. You were m i s s e d!

Rumpelstiltskin...
Thank you. I'm not quite back yet. I've posted a lot to this
thread, but I think it will be a while before I get into the general
discussions.

Gary James...
Glad you are getting better. Look forward to your return. Should
you ever get tired of posting under "Rumpelstiltskin" , hopefully
you'll be able to change to "I. P. Freely" :-)

George Z. Bush...
Having been my late wife's conscience through her two knee replacements, I can
tell you that you'll be in fighting trim before you know it. Just keep in mind
that you get out of PT exactly what you put into it.

IAC, welcome back. Glad it went well.

Florida...
Glad your recovery is going so well, and good for you! Looking
forward to your being back.

Rumpelstiltskin...
Thank you. I'm still not ready to throw myself into political
wrangling, though as noted above in this thread it seems the
opposition may finally have fallen so flat on its face it's hard
to see how they can persist, though they do yet soldier on
against impossible odds.
