Coffee
from Cooking Light
MISCONCEPTION: It only keeps you awake.
TRUTH: Arizona researchers recently discovered that caffeinated coffee
helps improve memory in older adults. Plus, regular coffee drinking
lowers the risk for type 2 diabetes. A new report finds that people who
drink a daily four to six cups have a 28 percent lower risk of
developing this illness, which is fast becoming an epidemic in this
country, than folks who drink less than two cups each day. Get recipes
using coffee, including this Caf=E9 au Lait Chiffon Pie.

This sounds delicious. I always loved coffee anything, including
ice cream. Wish I could eat desserts or tolerate caffeine. Maybe my
daughter will want to make it for an upcoming party.

I thought I drank a lot of coffee, but do some people drink
six cups a day???!!! Unless they mean those six cups of
those thimble-sized cups that are used in Europe.

Bless you, six thimble-sized cups of espresso would supply enough
caffeine to cause systems failure. Most Americans are used to kinder,
gentler coffee, not an inky thick caffeine syrup. The Old Dude is
careful to drink one early-morning doppio per day, which is a 24-hour
dose. He'll be pleased to hear that his doppio may be protecting him
from a family diabetes problem.

Vanilla ice-cream and black coffee, mushed up together,
tastes wonderful!
There's a line in cummings somewhere, about sitting at a
cafe on the Left Bank, drinking coffee like thick mud.
Paradise!

At my age coffee is a cheap thrill I can still enjoy:) I don't drink
more than 2 to 3 cups a day, but I buy the best and when around
town compare the virtues of the lattes of various establishments.
I like to sample various blends.
Also in the a.m. I stumble around and make grievous mistakes
unless I have my coffee immediately.
