California Poppy...
He had his knee surgery on August 18. I hope his surgery was
successful and that he is on the way to full recovery. I had hoped he
would be back with us before now.

Sir Frederick...
I have wondered this each day.
I thought you had his real e-address as "Geoff",
but then he recently changed ISP.

Rita...
He was talking about changing ISPs and possible trouble
with his computer and DSL.

Islander...
IIRC he did change ISPs and was having trouble with the reliability of DSL.

I wish he had given us the name of a friend to check with. Having both
knees done at the same time has got to be tough!

Perhaps Sordo went over to take care of him. Also, js was offline for a
while and I was wondering if perhaps js was really Rumple. Rumple is
sharp enough to pull that off and wouldn't that be a great joke on us!

E (Bet) Anthony...
William Boyd had knee surgery not long ago. He should have some idea
about recovery time.

El Castor...
My wife and her brother both had it done, as well as a female friend
who took care of both knees at the same time. Able to put weight on it
with little or no pain (the pain comes from flexing -- or pretty much
just the fact that it's there) within 24 hours -- or less. Difficulty
sleeping for maybe 3 - 4 days -- it hurts all the time. Home in a
little less than a week. The next couple of weeks consist of hobbling
around, a regimen of exercises, and a little less discomfort every
day. Full recovery takes several months. My wife, who had half a knee
done, was in Starbucks, wearing shorts, within a couple of days after
coming home, grossing out the customers with her staples. I think the
next day we went to an Eichler exhibit at UC Berkeley. So ... in most
cases, back at the computer in about a week. Stairs are more
challenging than a computer, so he could be staying with a stairless
friend.
