Anybody see Borat yet?

There is some stir caused by the movie "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America
for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan." Borat (Sacha Cohen) is
Kazakhstan's foremost journalist, purely fictitious of course.

Supposedly the movie is pretty funny, but Russia has banned it for fear that
it gives offense. Kazakhstan hasn't but does not think much of the movie.

Funny, it used to be "banned in Boston" was all a movie needed to be a hit.
Now it's "banned in Russia."

What does the Rev Wildmon say, anybody know? Or how about Betty Bowers, the
world's most perfect Christian? Wildmon BTW is on the warpath against Best

I was going to see it and while I was watching one of the cable networks one
of the women remarked that she saw it and while funny (or "funny") it was
really raunchy. I decided not to go. FWIW.

No, best taken in small doses. I can't think of any comedy film I'd
sit through for two hours. I like my comedy short and succinct.
As in the skits on the old Saturday Night Live.

I watched about half of the movie and it reminded me a lot of a
collection of SNL characters and skits. I thought it was ok for a bit
for the spontaneous aspects. But, it ran out of anything funny
quickly once you got what he was doing.

Also kind of made me think of the guy who did the "My Name Jose
Emanus" or what ever it was about 30 years ago. The guy played on
Taxi and just was not funny either.

That would have been "Jose Jimenez" (pronounced as Latinos do it) and the actor
you're referring to (I think) is Judd Hirsch.
Isn't it always in the eye of the beholder?

I am jaded and want to be entertained and bits don't last long. I
left the theater and went and watched another flick instead of wasting
the time.
