California Poppy...
I listened to an animal expert recently on TV. He said that animals
that are prey have eyes on the side of their head so they can watch for
predators. Animals that are preditors have eyes that both focus
straight forward so they can focus for prey. Since our eyes are both
facing forward, then we must be predators. Right?

Islander...
Yes. My wife and I (eyes facing forward) are taking instruction in
training horses (eyes on the side of their head) and there is a great
deal about the preditor/prey relationship. The natural tendency of a
horse is to flee (undesirable) and the purpose of the training is to get
them to overcome that tendency. You may have heard about horse
whisperers. This is all about overcoming the prey instinct. It is
amazing how fast the horse will learn something when you, the trainer,
pay very close attention to your body language and especially where you
are looking. Fascinating!

El Castor...
We have eyes in the front of our head to enhance our forward field of
vision and depth perception to better keep an eye on animals which we
are chasing. I say animals, because while it is true that a pear, or
an ear of corn, may roll down the hill, we seldom have to chase them.
A nice plump chicken, well that's a different story.

Cows and chickens, on the other hand, have eyes toward the side of
their head. Please refer to the following picture which illustrates
the difference in eye placement between a cow (prey) and a cat
(predator). The cow's eyes are placed on the side of the head to
enhance his field of vision and allow him to spot things that are
sneaking up on him.

Anyhow, let me close by saying that none of this is our fault. If God
did not want us to eat animals, he would not have made them out of
meat.

Harry Thompson...
If God did not want us to eat animals he would not have made ketchup!
