Block Island, Rhode Island, USA

I took a bus tour to Block Island in Rhode Island on May 21.

Many years ago I watched a television show based somewhere in RI, I can't
even remember the name of the show now but those piccies reminded me of it
and the sort of buildings I'd expect to see there.Thank you.

You're welcome, Sandra. My pleasure. It's interesting looking at
the different kinds of architecture. Another point of interest on
Block Island is the statue of "Rebecca at the Well".

There's a funny story online about the statue. The original zinc & iron
statue of Rebecca was erected in 1898 by the island chapter of the
Women’s Christian Temperance Union [to prohibit alcoholic drinking]...
...The ladies of the WCTU, picking a statue from a Fiske Foundry
catalog to represent the values of sobriety, had thought they were
picking a representation of the Biblical Rebecca at the Well.
In fact, they had picked a representation of Hebbe, winebearer to the gods.

Thanks, Barb. I've been so busy that I haven't had
time to visit SISU very much lately. I guess that's true
of everyone when the weather gets good. We're all out
enjoying the good weather and making up for lost time. (g)
And we're planting and watering our gardens.
