John in Cornwall...
Can any kind person tell me what Starware 4.4.0.0. is - or what it is used

pmj...
There are several different things that are called "Starware".

But the one that it sounds like you are talking about is basically
AdWare/SpyWare.

pmj...
It's used (by the Suppliers of it) for collecting Information about
what WebSites & Web Pages you visit & for showing you Adverts.

for ?
I just found it in my control panel/add or remove programmes list.
Do I really need this programme >

pmj...
Nope.
I can't think of any reason why you would want it.

I tried a web search but it was a bit vague to say the least ....

pmj...
There's lots of Info about it around.

It's one of the typical "ToolBar" things which people are encouraged
to Download & Install by many Companies.

They benefit the *Company* much more than the User.

& also, many of those sort of things are poorly Programmed & can
lead to Crashes & Instability of the Machine they are Installed on.
& they often have various Vulnerabilities in them that can be
exploited by other MalWare.

Charlie Drake...
Do you mean this:

if so its adware and a nasty little bu**er to.

To remove:

or here:

John in Cornwall...
Thanks Charlie

I went to my Control panel - highlighted this "Starware 4.4.0.0." and it was
deleted in an instant !!!
Thanks for your help !!!

Charlie Drake...
I would shut down and restart and see if it has tried to reinstall
itself, there's some nasty little registry hooks.

Charlie Drake...
Or even on alt.pcnews if it's large and you don't want to bother
everyone with it, over on alt.pcnews you will only get the nosey crowd.

Charlie Drake...
Did anyone spot my deliberate mistake?

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Was it that you hadn't mentioned for him to publish the list in the 1st
place? :)

Anita...
thought you had hiccups :)

John

JoeH...
If it's another toolbar then it appears to be Adware/Spyware

YW and, yes, the first link above does mention that it can usually be
removed in that way - well done.
