Do you use special wipes or will any do?
That is for LCD TV as well, the guy we bought the tv from said he uses baby
wipes as he had a baby, but as we don't have one.......???

Michaelangelo...
I think there's probably a law against wiping them with a baby! :)

Jeff Gaines...
Soft tissue and plain water (I do use a spot of Fairy Liquid for stubborn
stains). When it's dried one of those spectacle cleaning cloths finish it
nicely. (While it's off, but I'm sure you appreciate that!)

Saxman...
That's absolutely right. Preferably wiping from side to side.

pmj...
Why's that then?
:-)

Is it so the Electrons don't slip down the Screen?
:-)

Wally...
Stubborn stains on your monitor Jeff? what web sites are
you looking at ? :o)

Jeff Gaines...
Ones that make me sneeze :-))

linedancer...
Thank's Jeff :-)
and I will make sure it is off ;-)

I know not to touch my monitor or it will go in holes, I have had to slap a

pmj...
What do you mean by "it will go in holes"?

I know that when you press (or twist!) an LCD (Liquid Crystal
Display)Screen, it makes various "Interference Patterns", which show up
as "Fringes" & "Patches" of different Colours - that's cos you're
squeezing/distorting/moving the *Liquid* (Crystal) inside them.

But surely, it all goes back to normal, when you take the Pressure
(of say a Finger) off?

few wrists of people wanting to touch it when pointing, that's not strictly
true, but you know what I mean, a loud STOP or DON'T TOUCH will usually

pmj...
LOL!!!

suffice before the the offending fingers hit the screen

MCC...
Vim and a Brillo Pad don't do them much good!

andon...
Is it true that a freshly-cut potato makes an excellent cleaner?

Grannie Annie...
VIM?!! That dates you :')

John...
We used to use the opposition "Mirror" ;-)

linedancer...
If you can find it these days, I did find some Ajax which was similar.
Don't think you can buy Vim any more, everything seems to be liquid, you
can't find Flash powder only liquid.

pmj...
LOL!!!
Yep, fingers definitely *can* leave marks on the Screen & (if the
marks aren't efficiently removed, there *is* a possibility that they
can cause some minor damage (to the Anti-Glare coating, cos of the
Acidity in the (small amount of) Sweat that is on even the driest
finger.

BTW - When cleaning the Finger Marks off, you must be very sure *not*
to use aggressive cleaners, which can in themselves damage the "Anti
Glare" coating of the LCD Screen (more than the finger marks do in
the first place!).

MCC...
Reminds me of a notice we had stuck to a fancy Telex machine away back 25
years ago at Falmouth Coastguard MRCC. ;-))

I've read that a cut potato smeared on a car windscreen will cause rain to
form a sheet of water rather than stay in drops. Useful when your wipers
break down - just make sure you have a spud in your glove box

andon...
I will make a note of that for my beloved. She is always keen to save
on things like new blades, air-filters, topping up the oil :-(

According to certain well know publications on DIY tips, the
freshly-cut potato makes an excellent wallpaper cleaner.
So presumably if you leave Windoze Desktop on-screen when you want to
clean the screen one should be OK :-)
Were there a lot of Spanish people working there then?

John...
Oh dear! That reminds me my areosol is empty must buy a new one.

John...
I find that Solution 30 Lens cleaner from opticians in a spray can is
OK, and then a wipe over with a soft glasses cleaning silky cloth is
fine.
