Just read this in the PCPitstop members forum: Is it a good idea? Any

That all depends...
For *some* people, it *may* (possibly) be a good idea...

Absolutely nothing to do with your post but a thought just occurred to me.
Since there is only (approx) 20 minutes left of Monday did you get the
interleaving removed as promised on Monday ?

I got an email from Plusnet at 12-47 telling me the upgrade had been
completed and I coul re-connect. Unfortunately nothing seems to have
happened - still got 288 kbps up and down and Latency is still Interleaved.
I have said so on the ticket I still have open around 13-15 and will await a
reply. If it hasn't improved tomorrow I shall add to the ticket again. We
had a bike shed session earlier and pmj can verify it. Also if I use my old
DSL SpeedTouucn USB modem it connects at 288 kbps as well. Doh.
On the good side however - their email problems appear to have been
rectified. Not that I was bothered too much by that.

Most cable and dsl users have a few second delay when opening internet
explorer, detecting proxy settings, to disable auto proxy settings go to

It's not "a few seconds delay" - it may be a Second or so - & in most
cases is usually less.

Bit of a bummer for me, cos I use a proxy to filter out a lot of the
rubbish. Don't need to save a few seconds to then waste oodles more
downloading adverts etc

Well that Setting (the "LAN" one) is only relevant if you *are* using
a LAN (Router) Connection - if you're using a USB ADSL Modem, then it
will be the *Dial Up* (Proxy) Settings that matter.
Besides, many people use a (Local) Proxy Server as a Web Filter
& AdBlocker! - So Disabling the Proxy Settings (or Disabling the
"Auto Detect" Setting) may not be what they want.
Also, some (though not very many) people use a .PAC (Proxy Auto
Configuration) File as another (very efficient) Web Filter & AdBlocker.
So mucking around with the Proxy Settings isn't any Help to them - they
need to make sure the various different Proxy Settings are correct!
