scans & firewalls:

My new pc has Kaspersky virusscan, firewall & loads
of other junk. It's fine. I removed McAfee because it
was a 60 day promotion & I had this Kaspersky thing
which is good for a year. Anyway my old Dell's Norton
scan ran out so I downloaded AVG & Zone Alarm

Hi andon: You're right about AVG & Z-A. Here in Bill Gates
land it's either Norton or McAfee. Both expensive & heavy on
your pc. It takes us a little longer to catch up to the rest of the
world but remember we elected Duh-bya so there's the excuse, LOL

firewall-free stuff. Next year if I'm alive, & Kaspersky
wants me to renew I won't. AVG & Z-A are very good.
They are dependable & light on your computer. Free or
not take this tip from John.

The SAD thing is that Peter Norton, a compatriot of yours, was an
excellent programmer. He wrote a suite of tools for the PC called
Norton Utilities. Pre-emminent in its field back in the early 1980's.
Most of us could not have functioned half as well without his work.
Alas he sold out in about 1990 and the Big Business traded on his
name and prowess ever since. Unfortunately they have not done
anything to help the user of their product and simply extracted
money from their wallets.
He is the same Art collector behind Peter Norton Family Foundation.
Unlike Symantec who bought his company who only collect money and
help themselves.

Well andon I just learned something without touching web-search.
That was interesting & educational. Symantec, in my opinion,
should rid the name Norton from it's awful software. Oh, I had
Symantec's Norton just like everybody else & found it full of
bugs with the added attraction of a difficult uninstall process.

My curiosity about Peter Norton forces me to read his bio.
