Logged on this morning, hoping to see that BT had switched off my
Interleaving and getting a faster download speed. No such chance.
Interleaving is still active and router is synchronising at 288kbps down and
288kbps up, giving me a measured download speed of 240kbps and upload speed

pmj...
& what are you getting in the way of Kilo*Bytes* Per Second?
In other words how long does a given (resonably large) File take to
Download over your Connection? - From a Server that has a decent
Speed Capability/Capacity?

Have you tried downloading say, a 13MB File, such as the web-search
Earth Setup/Installation File?

Try that...

The web-search Servers are normally pretty good.

I just tried that Download & it took about 29 Seconds, to Download
the 13 MB File, giving a Download Speed of about 460 KiloBytes/Sec

Which is about 80 - 90 % of the Speed that this Cable Modem Connection
is capable of.

& what about those other Speed Test things that have been Posted up?
Such as...

&

What do you get from them?
& Do they show a steady Speed? - or a varying Speed?

of 232kbps. Rebooted router and no difference. Doesn't seem to be

pmj...
Have you tried doing a complete "Factory ReSet" on the Router?
maybe, with all the faffing around & changing - both their end
& your end - it could do with ReSetting it back to the Factory
Defaults & ReTraining it?

anything on Plusnet's service status page about it either. Is it only me

pmj...
But surely they would only have stuff on their Status Pages that
affected large numbers of Users (or large areas) & not things that
are specific to individual Connections/Lines/Accounts?

on Plusnet that it's happening to? :(

pmj...
Well, not *only* you, but then it's not *everybody* else either!

I know someone who I have been helping out near here who has
3 different ADSL Broadband Connections - 2 PlusNet ones & one BT
Broadband (on 3 different Exchanges)

& one of the PlusNet ones is fine, but the other PlusNet one (& the
BT Broadband one) are having various probs - Dropping the Connection
etc.

Rabbit...
I've got interleaved and router reporting 448 upstream and 6656 downstream.
Actual speed on the Plusnet tester is 3824

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
So I'm right to be paranoid then? :( They were goping to switch off the

Rabbit...
Maybe not 'cos you aren't alone as you'd find out if you subscribed to the
Plusnet customer feedback group.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
How do I get to that then?

Rabbit...
It's plusnet.service.customer-feedback. Only available though on the Plusnet
server but IIRC you do have that set up don't you ?

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Ta - just subscribed - will have a browse now. Be back - much later
methinks. Still on a 240 kbps dowwnload speed. :(

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Had a browse at all today's posts in there, and can't find anything
relevant to my current problem. :(

Rabbit...
Sheesh you want jam on it :-) I didn't say the comments/complaints/rants

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Just downloaded the new CCleaner version (418 Kb) and it told me at the end
average download speed was 5.59 KBps :(

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Noy enough time for that you rotter. :(

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Can't get that it's just flashing *Waiting for server authentication*

were today but your problem has figured in various posts since folk were
MAXed along with a couple of other regular problems.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I was hoping that someone had experienced this dramatic loss of speed - in
my case from ~2900 kbps to 280 kbps overnight. I even considered it could

Rabbit...
Go to --edit--find and put speeds in the message box, that brings up several
similar complaints.
BTW what is your stable speed reading ? Has it changed?
https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=stable_rate

be my router playing up, but using my Alcatel SpeedTouch USB ADSL modem I
can only connect at 288 kbps and getting download speeds around 240 kbps.
No mention of problems on Plusnet status last time I looked and my local
exchange are quoting condition green.

MCC...
This may not be a good time to tell you that my speeds are 4696 kbps down

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
And mine is still 240 kbps. ;-(
Still since that is <10% of what I pay for I'm expecting a 90% refund.

Rabbit...
Emmm technically no it's not, it's still *up to* 8MB and that's wot you are

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Hey it's only 8.25% of what I was getting yesterday - so I thought I was
being overly generous only asking for a 90% rebate.

paying for :-)

pmj...
No it's not, surely?

I thought that almost all ADSL ISP's (& I'm sure it applies to

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
That gives 241 kbps download But for some reason won't start the upload
measurement - well not after a 10 minute wait.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Speed was pretty steady

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Haven't bothered with that, since if I disconnect the rooter and use my
it connects at 288 kbps, but measured speed is again about 240 kbps.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Plusnet's own download speed test is giving 243.40 kbps, but only downloads
308 kbytes, whereas at the higher speeds I was getting yesterday it
downloads 2.93 Mbytes.

Plusnet) now *don't* charge for their Connections according to the
Speed of them?

Those days ended, when the typical ADSL Connection Speed was 512kbps.

Now the ISPs charge (usually) on the amount of Data Downloaded (or
various other criteria) & *not* on the basis of the (nominal) Speed
of the Connection.

pmj...
I don't think you'll get it.

If there was *no* Service, then you *may* be able to get some sort
of Refund, but I wouldn't think they would give any Refund just cos
of a lack of Speed on it.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Lack of speed is right, if they went much lower they'd be in reverse. :(

and 373 up

Rabbit...
;-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
That's not all he'll be b-- - - - well getting either. :)

MCC...
Promises! Promises!

Rabbit...
Fight!! Fight!! Tickets on sale at the usual outlets :-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Not a punter in sight methinks. LOL

Rabbit...
Yebbut wait till the jannie opens the playground gates :-)

MCC...
Now, will I stir "widdershins" or "sungaets"?

Rabbit...
Emmm!! OK!! I could pretend I know but I won't, so could you please
translate that into English or Scots ;-)

MCC...
Widdershins = anti-clockwise or against the sun.
No fisherman would ever turn his boat widdershins.
Sungaets = clockwise or with the sun.
My father, who was not normally a superstitious person would insist, when
going for a trip in the car, on always going sungaets.
No good would come of the day if he was forced to go widdershins :-)

Rabbit...
Thanks for the translations. Next time I'm going on a car trip I'll be
thinking about that :-)

interleaving on mine last Friday, but as yet haven't done so. I wonder if
they are in the process of doing it atm? Wouldn't have thought it took that

Rabbit...
Since they have stopped ( as of yesterday, the last time I looked) MAX
upgrades till BT sort out a *glitch* that might be holding up your change.
Maybe they are waiting to see if the glitch had anything to do with it.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I think I'll go watch the tennis then.

long though. :(
