We have just bought an LCD 32" Panasonic widescreen TV with Freeview

Frederick Williams...
Think of all the good books you could get for the money. At the moment
the OED is available for £500.

Gareth...
The online version is free if you know the password. ;-))

Frederick Williams...
To say that access is free if you know the password makes as much sense
as saying access is free if you own the book.

Gareth...
But I'm not going to post it in here!!! It depends if you're
interested...

Frederick Williams...
Don't hold yourself back on my account.
(Is that a pun? I'm not sure.)

/whistles/ :')

Ali...
Terrible story though. I prefer the Concise edition.

The Collins dictionary is good enough for what I want Fred, I can look up a
spelling and the Thesaurus helps me solve crosswords ;-)

So I prefer to keep my TV and the Collins Dictionary :-)

Anita...
We have had it about 4 months now and are indeed pleased we got it.
Our 20 year old VCR works ok with it too and the DVD player also.

I agree with you that the instruction manual for the DVD player is
rather puzzling as is the manual for the TV itself. We have not
attempted looking at the Freeview channels on there because we have a
sky box.

I did have one query and that was when I tried to use the sky remote
with the tv too - it would not accept it, so I phoned Panasonic and they
could not be more helpful. All sorted in under 5 minutes.

I am sure you will love watching the TV :)

I am pleased to hear that you are pleased with your TV Anita, we are
enjoying every minute of it, last night we watched a dvd of The Eagles Last
Concert, which was filmed in Melbourne , we have the DVD recorder hooked up
to the hi-fi, it was just like being there, really exciting :-)

Anita...
Indeed it is :)

There are lots of different settings to choose from, if you understand the
meaning of them.

Don't want to mess it up so we will leave it as it is, apart from the
picture menu, should we choose:
Dynamic, Cinema, Normal or Auto ? it's on Dynamic at the moment, I suppose
that must make the colours brighter.

It's taken us over a week to get the old analogue VCR (which only had one
Scart socket) and the new DVD recorder all working properly together with
it, it would do everything but record and playback properly with the VCR,
Jack made an aerial to connect the two together yesterday and fingers
crossed it seems to be ok now, the settings for the DVD recorder are
something else, really haven't a clue what they all mean ;-) can't record
Freeview channels with either, that's not a problem though.

Frederick Williams...
If you have access to a ten year old, ask them to set it up for you.
I'm reminded of when child-proof medicine bottle were brought in:
elderly folk handed them to their grandchildren for opening.

linedancer...
I wouldn't exactly equate it to opening a bottle, but I know what you mean,
on the other hand we can work things out without a calculator, we had to
learn tables at school.
