New DVD recorder grrrrr

Fed up with the d**mn thing, can't tune the tv prog's in to it and get a
picture of them, it's tuned all the channels ok but but there's no
picture, just lines going across,It plays DVD's CD's ok, records tv without
anything showing on playback as we don't have a picture showing on the
channels, don't know what we are doing wrong, but I think we will see if we
can take it back.

Hubby has connected the VCR .TV. Freeview box. and dvd recorder, I don't
know which order, it's way too complicated :-(

Thank's Sandra, everythings w**king ok now except the freeview, hubby says
he needs another scart socket for that.

We have even got the tv sound coming out of the hi fi speakers:-)

Don't we have fun Splodge with all our gadgets ;-) hubby connected the
Freeview box up today, as per diagram on the web site, now we can watch the
Freeview channels but can't get channels again through the DVD recorder, I
spent ages this morning tuning in all the terrestial channels 1 to 5
properly as well :-(
Now it's back to the drawing board again tonight, I think it must be an
aerial problem, we had an aerial into the dvd recorder before and now it's
into the Freeview box, we'll get there eventually we've only had it since
Monday ;-)

The first day I had to set the DVD recorder up and when it came to selecting
the language I accidentally selected Chinese ! then I couldn't read it to
get it back into English LOL after an hour or two and by moving up and
down through all the Chinese menus I finally found it !

Whether that DVD recorder ends up doing what you want or not you've got to
admit it was worth what you paid for it just for the entertainment so far!

Thanks for that link Sandra. I've printed it out for future reference - ie
posterity lol. I recently had dreadful problems after I tried to connect a
new DVD player - pmj had to help me on that one.

& how does (or do) the picture(s) that they have on that Site compare
to the way that we ended up *actually* Connecting up your DVD Player,
Video, NTL Set Top Box & TV?

& do they mention on that Site about making sure that the existing
TV Aerial FlyLead is actually OK?

& also about checking that the Aerial *Socket* on the wall is OK!!!
& that the Soldered connections inside haven't ended up Brokted,
through movement.

Otherwise it might involve a trip to the local DIY Shed to buy a new
TV FlyLead & a new TV Aerial wall Socket!!!

All he wanted to do was record some old VHS tapes, which it did when we gave
it a trial run before connecting everything up together, I can't ask for
help as I don't understand it at all :-(

Wish I had never bothered, I have wasted too much time on it already, hubby
doesn't like it as the display is not clear enough, it looks like it has a
glazed cover over it, at first we thought it had a protective covering, but
it doesn't, and when it says load it says LOAd with a small case d.

End of grumble ;-)
