Hi Silversurfers. I'm awake. Are you?
pmj...
|
Yep.
I'm almost always awake around this time (5:00 AM) in the morning.
I don't (usually) go to bed till later in the Morning
& especially on nights like tonight, when I've been out working
overnight & only just got in.
|
I'm busy doing paperwork here next to my laptop.

a) Taking curry powder makes you blind?
b) Cats that eat curry powder become invisible?

It's 8:47 PM, Sat. night, May 6.
I hate doing paperwork... checking my credit
card charges. All these receipts have to be
straightened out. Awful job. So I need a little diversion. (g)

Just off to bed after devouring the 3rd pint of 6 proof dry Blackthorn
cider.
Nighty night - hic!!!!!!! :)
~~seadancer~~...
|
Nighty night! I'm still doing paperwork. (g)
What does 6 proof mean? 60% alcohol?
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
|
6% alcohol by volume I think.
|
Not too strong. But 3 pints is a lot. One pint = 2 cups.
That's 6 cups of cider! You'll sleep like a baby. (lol)
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
|
Do baby's snore then? :)
~~seadancer~~...
|
Snoring! Don't mention that word! (lol)
I'm told that I snore. But I don't believe a word of it. (g)

Well Gizmo has never complained of it. Mind you he sleeps in the other
bedroom and only comes in mine to wake me up in the morning.
~~seadancer~~...

I've heard about the different ways cats wake people up.
Our dog used to wake us up by licking our faces. But a
friend of ours who owns a cat, said that his cat has clever
ways of waking him up. Sometimes the cat snaps the
watchband on his wrist. Other times the cat pulls at the
mirror on the wall with his paw to make the mirror bang
against the wall. In fact, the story goes that the cat once
actually opened the garage door by jumping against the
wall switch! I didn't know cats could be so smart.
How does Gizmo wake you up, FN?
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
|
I usually hear him push the bedroom door open. Even if I've left it ajar
he'll push it and you can here it move over the carpet. If that doesn't
w*rk he jumps up on the bed and pads the duvet whilst purring. And if that
doesn't w*rk he puts his paw on my closed eyes and then cheek. If he wants
me to get up and let him out he jumps up and down on and off the bed several
times. He did that about ¼ hour ago - that's why I've logged on in here
for a short while. :)

It's amazing how these pets "talk" to us.
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...

I've just returned home from a visit from the barber and a little other
extraneous shopping, and met our window cleaner Les about 50 yards from
home. We started chatting - and he said Gizmo will be here in a minute.
Sure enough he came sauntering across the road going "Wah" "Wah" every
third step. I don't know what he was saying but he was definitely telling
us something. When Les is cleaning the windows on our crescent, Gizmo
goes round with him to keep him company.

We miss our jorji so much that we're actually thinking about
getting another dog. But we really shouldn't. They are a real
inconvenience. I'm allergic to cats, unfortunately. I know
there are non-allergenic cats, but somehow I don't want to
start learning how to care for a cat... with the cat litter thing.
It's just another bother. I can hardly keep up with watering
the few plants I have. :)
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...

Gizmo has only used his litter tray once in all the years I've had him.

|
I wish somebody would train the cat which has just recently arrived in my
garden to use a litter tray or anything except my lawn. We have a few cats
around here and this is the only one I've ever seen pooing on the lawn. I
always thought cat's buried what they left but this one is going to get the
hose turned on it soon 'cos it doesn't even bother if I'm watching

We tried the plastic bottle strategy at first, that seemed to work for a
week or so. The 'offender' has got used to them now and even pooped
right next to one.
SWWLTBO threw a small stone at him this morning. The cat stopped in mid
poop and vamoosed. I have told her it is not a good idea to lob
missiles in future, the RSPCA might not like it.
So, we are now onto our third fiendish plan. We are about to adopt the
'rubber snake' strategy.
If all else fails, strategy number four is still available.
I will report back in due course :-)

They do say cats don't like the smell of oranges or lemons so put the peels
around the area!!
Mike Clayton...

Thanks Jackie. I have six strategies now :-)

Now that cojures up a vision of you following him/her round on your knees
with a plastic pooper scooper and plastic bag in had. LOL

I ain't joking when I said it'll be the hose soon and it's got one of those
nozzles you can adjust for different strengths of water. I ain't cleaning up
after a cat again. I actually thought it must have been a dog getting in,
until I saw it I never gave a cat a thought.

That was when he had a case of the runs (trots) several years ago. He
prefers to wait 'til he's outside. He's always preening himself too - I
suppose with his long fur he needs to, to prevent it getting matted. He
loves having his fur combed too - that's another daily ritual around his

That's interesting, FN. What a good, sweet cat!
Trouble is that I wouldn't like to let my cat outside, loose.
I'd worry about him/her being out there, possibly getting
run over by a car, or who knows what might happen.
So the cat litter tray would be a necessity.
Our neighbor's cat is always after the birds in my yard.
One time the cat went into our garage and when we closed
the door with the automatic door-opener-closer, the cat
got locked in there. Our neighbor was very worried.
If we had gone away for a few days, the ending might not
have been so pleasant.
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...

I can see your worries - but I wouldn't like to restrict a cat's freedom.
Gizmo was a rescue cat and since coming to live here has formed a good
relationship with most of the other 10 cats in the neighbourhood. He loves
being out in fine weather with his friends.

LOL - That cider looks good!
I note that they mention using "only English cider apples...
not American dessert apples" for anyone who has a cider mill.
I'll remember that. (g)

Well...John..I went to bed at 4.05 AM this morning and got up at 10:15
AM.....Now 1.09 PM here in Sydney ..Oz...I often wake up during the night

But he's in Australia!
& they are (about) 10 Hours *ahead* of GMT/UTC...
So it's his afternoon .
Whereas you (seadancer) are 4 Hours *behind* GMT/UTC (Greenwich Mean
Time/Universal Coordinated Time) - which means you are 5 Hours behind
our BST (British Summer Time = GMT + 1 Hour) & about 14 (or 15?)
Hours behind Australia!
It's already tomorrow in Australia!
It must be about mid afternoon there, now (5:30 BST, here).

Hello Barry
Well - I even got these so called sleeping tablets and they dont work at all
!!Doctor told me not to have any tea or coffee after 8pm as it stimulates
the brain. I tried that but it didnt make the slightes bit of difference. I
have resigned myself to the fact that I,m an insomniac. The only time I get

Me too. The only time I've ever gone to bed and been asleep within minutes
was one night only when I was a student at Uni in London. That was around
8-00 am after I'd been awake for 48 hours. Never been repeated since. I'm
usually still awake a couple of hours after my head hitting the pillow.
~~seadancer~~...
|
That's probably because you're a thinker.
I am too. My mind won't stop thinking. (lol)
But once I fall asleep, I usually sleep soundly
for a few good hours. I dream a lot though.

I found a way round that: go to bed two hours later!
The problem with that is that I have to be in a certain place at a certain
time, or I don't get paid; which in turn means I have to get up at a certain
time, which too often is way before I have woken up.
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...

Doesn't w*rk for me. Go to bed at 02-00 and I'm still awake at 04-00. :(
So I have to have a later lie in later. :)

a decent sleep is when I,m on a long flight.

I'm afraid to take sleeping pills. They say that warm
milk will help you sleep. Even if it doesn't, it's good
for you. Sometimes a boring TV show will put me
to sleep. It helps me to relax and stops my mind
from ruminating.
