Going Walkabout

We (wife and I) are planning to retire in approx 2yrs (aged 55). We are
thinking of selling our house and buying a motorhome and just drive
around Europe (to start off with).

In this early planning phase, I'm thinking about bank accounts, mail
etc. With no fixed address, would banks, mobile phone companies, etc,
forward to a PO Box?

Whilst you still have a genuine address fix up on-line accounts
with your bank. Whoever you use now is bound to have net and phone
banking. With on-line a/c you do not need to receive paper
statements.
Phones can also be managed on-line. You can also make use of better
roaming charges by using a VOIP phone. Bill - top ups can be managed
on-line and no paper statements are needed. If you are not going to
be in UK it is unlikely that a UK mobile firm will offer the best
rates either :-(
If you are going to be in Europe you will get better deals all round
if you play like a European. Nearly all the same protections as we
enjoy at home in UK and many banking/phone rate advantages.

Has anyone here done anything like this, or know of any sites that may
help.

I can remember someone from this Group posting links and frequent details of
a couple (or a family) who'd organised a long trip abroad. I don't think it
involved retirement, but they wrote lots of details about the things you're
asking about.

Hi Clive, What about using a family member as a go between ;-))

be along with all the info .
It is a couple who did that and sent follow ups for us to see. Would love
to have done it in my younger Days ;-))))
