We've watched it decline from a thriving fishing village to a home for
retired people!

We went there for our fish when we were little, not liked fish since the
only stuff available is at the SuperMarkets. We grew up to fish fresh from
the sea!!

Best Fish I've ever had Pam, was when I use to go Sea fishing, Straight
out of the sea and into the frying pan....... Delicious.

to me it was best still when it was cooked at sea ;-)
i was sea fishing out from Lyme Regis and we caught some Mackerel for
bait and i told the skipper i was starving and i had already eaten my
sandwiches :-( So he said with a load of Mackerel there is no need to be
hungry and i asked how did "we" cook it. he laughed.
Clean the Mackerel and wrap it in newspaper, soak it in the sea and put
it on the exhsust pipe of the boat. When it was cooked unwrapped it and
all the skin pulled away and it was the most beautiful tasting fish i
remeber. and i always cook them at home the same way and have for years.

Yes, unless you've experienced it you've no idea how fish fresh from the sea
tastes, have you?
They can't make it taste right in shops:(

I'll second that. I remember as a child getting taken to a fishing port as
the boats came home. Fish bought at the quayside, and served with new
potatoes from my great uncle's market garden.
