Remember recent news reports about every BT broadband customer being
automatically upgraded as a result of exchange upgrades during March?
Well it appears as if customers have got to register and pay!
I said at the time that I would believe it when I saw it.

We have had lots of roadworks around this way and it has all been for BT
laying cables
(a thin cable in a metal tube) so I suppose this is the Broadband network!

That would be an optic fibre cable. They draw the sub duct (pipe) through
an existing duct and 'blow' the fibre through the sub duct. 'Blowing'
prevents damage to the cable. After all that, the cable still requires
jointing, connecting to the exchange and testing. It might not be for
broadband, but could be a private connection, mobile mast, you name it!
