Virus-scan story

About a month ago I bought a utility. It had the usual junk that

I like to play with. It was Kaspersky's Mechanic Professional #6
but I didn't install it. Lucky me. I had a catastrophic breakdown
with my Dell that nobody could figure out so I got angry, reacted
badly & bought a new PC. It was loaded with a sample McAfee
scan, firewall & more but I had this new expensive utility so before
I loaded it I checked what people on the net thought of it. It was a
hate fest so I went to Staples to exchange the blasted thing. The
manager told me sorry but he wouldn't take the unopened software
back. :(

I was peeved. I called my daughter at the courthouse & asked her
if I had any recourse. She said "don't open it & don't worry. She won't
tell me what she did but I received a call from Staples headquarters &
the fellow told me to keep the software & a few days later I received
a Staples check for 70 bucks. I installed the now free utility & despite
all the negative reviews by the man in the street it's terrific.

Great when the kids turn out to be useful isn't it? Bet you are glad
now you didn't sell them to the highest bidder during the sleepless nights
years ( tempting though it is)
I suppose if Judge Debbie hadn't come up trumps you could have got Tom to
photograph the company CEO and turn him into a frog or something. LOL

I guess what this long boring post is about is never give up as I did.
if you get ripped-off by some company make some noise. They don't
like confrontation. I now have $70.00 that I have to use at Staples. It
isn't much but it feels good. I'm so happy that I'm about to shower
in a few minuets, way ahead of my schedule. :-))

Hmm... I must be reading this differently to everyone else.

You got a piece of software you didn't want.

You got your money back for the software.

You installed the software you said you didn't want anyway.

Is it just me that thinks that's unethical?

Hi Dave: I was a business man (real estate) for more years
than I can count. Ethical, ha? Of course I'm unethical. I have
been called many other names & unethical is the mildest.
Why Dave , compared to what most people say about
me it's a complement. Btw-Staples not only sent me a check
but told me to keep the blasted software. I was not about to
give it back so the point was moot.:-) Staples did their best
to rip me off & in the confusion they lost out. How often does
that happen? .

Ps. Tom took my Dell home & fixed it in about 20 minutes. I still hate
