We let Ben off his lead :-)

We went for our first proper walk of the year today - lovely weather for
the first time :-) Short drive up into the Wolds and off walking. Middle of
nowhere - no roads - fantastic :-)

So pleased for you that Ben has made such progress now :-)

Finger crossed here for Billy now - he has bonded quite closely with me.
I hope my upcoming absence will not upset things.

That is good news, but were there any other dogs around? My Rexie was o.k.
off the lead as long as there were no other dogs, if others were there he
just wanted to play with them and was deaf to my calls!!!

Half way through the walk we thought it might just be OK to let Ben off his
lead. We haven't let him off before (apart from when we first got him - a
mistake) because he gets that look in his eyes and goes running wild. We
let him off - he ran about - nothing wild though. He sniffed lots (his
hobby) - we just left him sniffing and walked on - he caught us up. He
seemed a *very* happy doggy :-) Hopefully Ben's last problem is ending and
he's gonna be a normal doggy from now on :-)

Must have been a bit nervous doing it and hoping he wouldn't dash off but
great to hear that he behaved so well. The walk sounds nice... I suppose
