Someone elsewhere is asking for help in removing AOL. Any help please? :)

Interesting. They won't won't let you cancel your account and they won't
let you uninstall their software.

pmj...
How can they actually *Stop* you UnInstalling it?

Bram...
I winked!! I winked!!!

Tickettyboo...
Thank God for that, I thought your twitch was back again :-)

JoeH...
"It was in his bliddy pocket"

OK, yes, they do make it fairly difficult to (*Completely*) remove
it all, but it can be UnInstalled OK.

The previous Versions used to be much more difficult, (& Installed
themselves into all sorts of places all over the Hard Disk & in the
Registry) but since about AOL 7 or 8, they've been written using a
much more sensible Installer Routine, which makes it (relatively) easy
to UnInstall it.

Yes, you do have to do it in the right order (to make sure that the
Dialler & ACS (Access Control Service) & various other bits get
UnInstalled & you will also find hat it (still) leaves loads of bits
& pieces (& other stuff, such as the YGP (You've got Pictures) Screen
Saver & the Viewpoint Media Player & AOL Coach & AOL AIM - Instant
Messenger Registry Entries & Files, etc,) left over, but you can then
do a Manual File Search for the Files & Folders & use something like
RegCrawler to find them (& Delete them from0 the Registry.

I had AOL (Pre-Installed) on this PC (& have seen it on several others)
& it UnInstalled OK, but I'm *still* finding bits & pieces of it left
over in all sorts of weird places in the Registry.

Frederick Williams...
I was amused by "... AOL use to be very high quality." When was that?

Tickettyboo...
Has it been used? was it preinstalled and then subscribed to?
I had AOL on the pc when I bought it ( just the prog folders /files, not
actually let loose )and removed it via add/remove progs.
If its a recently installed thing, and they have XP, I would go for a
system restore
