Mavis Barne...
Remember, they go forward one hour tonight.

Tickettyboo...
oh its Mavis, regular as clockwork. LOL

Gareth...
Mine go *BACK* one hour!

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I remember it by the american way:

Spring forward

Fall back

Troy's Human...
Why is that american ?

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Well I still call it Autumn. :)

Aries...
because we don't call Autumn, Fall - gettit ;)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Now I thought TH was being facetious. I never dreamt that he didn't realise
that Spring and Fall were seasons on the other side of the pond. :)

Aries...
I'm sure he was being facetious but I couldn't resist replying anyway ;)

Gareth...
I didn't reply because I couldn't spell facetious. :-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Glad I was able to help with your spelling inadequacies then. LOL

pmj...
LOL!
:-)

It's actually one of the (very few) words [*1] in the English
Language that has all of the Vowels in it, in order! - So that's
one way to remember how to spell it.

[*1]
OK...
I'm sure someone can remind me/us what the other word(s) like
that are?

Gareth...
Are you ready?

pmj...
Yep...
:-)

abstemious
abstentious
adventitious

pmj...
OK, yes, but that *also* has an additional letter "i" in it. [*1]

aeriferous
aerophilous
amentiferous
anemophilous
arenicolous

pmj...
& all of those also contain an additional Vowel.

arsenious

pmj...
What does that mean then?

Ali...
containing arsenic of valency 3 (in chemical names)
chemicals containing arsenic of valency 5 use the word arsenic.

arteriovenous
autoecious

pmj...
& those both contain more than one of the Vowels repeated.

sacrilegious :o))

pmj...
& that also has an additioanl one in it.

[*1]
I realise that I didn't say anything about them not containing more
than one occurrence of each of the vowels.
:-)

BTW - How did you come up with those?
Did you just "happen to know" them?
Or do you have a List of stuff like that?
:-)

Gareth...
I just typed *a*e*i*o*u* into WordWeb Pro, although you can do
similar using OneLook online dictionary.
see here

and here's WordWeb

JoeH...
OK then here you go.

At least five English words contain the five major vowels in order:
abstemious, abstentious, adventitious, facetious, and parecious.

pmj...
LOL!
Thankyou!
:-)

But notice, that of those, only 4 contain each of the Vowels in order
& also only once...
("adventitious" contains the letter "i" twice)

At least six contain the five vowels in *reverse* order: duoliteral,
quodliteral, subcontinental, uncomplimentary, unoriental, and unnoticeably.

pmj...
LOL!
:-)

Interesting! (well, that's if you're interested in that sort of thing!)
:-)

Aries...
Wise man ;)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
But he knows now - must have a good teacher. :)

Troy's Human...
OK we don't call it Fall anymore - but we did hundreds of years ago. The
Americans got it from us !

So there - it's not American :-) It's all ours :-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
So did we make a retrograde step then?

Gareth...
I don't bother remembering... ther's always enough people around to
remind me what has to be done. :-)))

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Not 'ere there ain't and Gizmo at 14 refuses point blank to learn any new
tricks, now he's got me thoroughly domesticated. :(

Phil Kyle...
My clock runs on electricity, so I just leave it.

Rabbit...
Oh I'm moving mine back. The last time I moved the clock forward it fell off
the mantelpiece :-)

noreen...
Nice one Sandra ;-))))
