Well you've followed all the palaver in several different threads so I
thought I'd better crystallise it all into one: (big crystal :) )
MCC...
Shortly after my connection being converted to MaxDSL, the excellent new
speeds of around 4500kbps suddenly dropped to around 2900kbps as
interleaving was switched on by BT.
I raised a ticket with PN on 27/06/06 and after a couple of replies and my
comments I requested that interleaving be switched off ( 28/06/06). They
replied and stated they had requested this action internally on 30/06/06.
Fine I thought.
On 06/07/06 my router suddenly showed a very low synch rate of 288kbps
(same on both up and downstream) and that interleaving was still active.
On 07/07/06 I commented about this on the raised ticket and sent a copy of
my router diagnostic page to them. I also stated that I could no longer
access the speedtester server to carry out btspeedtester tests.
On 08/07/06 PN replied saying that an order to upgrade my speed had been
placed and would be completed on 10/07/06 They requested any further data
that may help their engineers. So I sent details of the latest router
diagnostic page and ADSL Status page on that same day.
On 10/07/06 at 12-47 PN emailed and replied on the ticket that my order had
been completed and I may connect. Nothing had changed still synching at
288kbps and Interleaving still active.
I continued to comment that there was no change to my connection speeds at
24 hour intervals.
12/07/06 PN replied to say that my interleaving was switched off on
21/06/06. That was some 6 days before I even raised the ticket and a full 9
days before they had requested such action. And my router has been showing
that interleaving is active since 21/06/06 until right now. They also
suggested that I carry out the speedtest speed checks so that BT can get a
log of my speeds. But they know I cannot connect to that server. Haven't
they read the comments and attachments I have sent them? Certainly the six
replies they have sent are from 6 different people with differing titles.
We've had CSC Agents and BOT - DSL Provisioning.

Apologies for ignorance but what is CSC, and BOT ??
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...

No idea they are the labels, that the individuals who reply to my comments
on the ticket, have been given. eg Joe Bloggs CSC Agent, or Jim BOT -
DSL Provisioning
Aries...

I still want to know :(
Gizmo and Fudge...

Well I guess CSC is supposed to be Customer Service Consultancy
Don't know about BOT - DSL Provisioning though. Perhaps it's some sort of
Rabbit...

Business Operation Team ?
However given your current problems you might appreciate any of these

liasonbetweeb PN and BT for DSL w*rk. It was someone with that designation
who told me an order had been placed and who told me the w*rk had been done,
even though it seems not to have been.
Aries...

Ah, yes CSC would be that, so one down, one to go. BTW why aren't you
watching the test cricket ????
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...

Have watched a bit this afternoon, but must admit to have lost some
interest since it appears we're stuck with a reserve team match again.
Aries...

I know what you mean, but they do seem to be doing a little better now :)
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...

Well there have been 5 dropped catches. :)

Thank goodness LOL

They've got another 4 to go before they match the 9 against Sri Lanka at
Lords earlier in the summer. :(

Where oh where do I go from here?

I truly am sorry to read in here and in plusnet.service.customer-feedback
about your continuing problems, FN. You must be driven to distraction by
now. I know I would be.
However, there is light at the end of the tunnel (and no, it's not a "No
Exit" sign!). Here are my speed results for the past few days.
Date Speed Achieved (kbps)
13-07-2006 11:55:10 4884.9
13-07-2006 11:54:46 5041.2
13-07-2006 04:40:20 6342.2
12-07-2006 05:07:03 6342.2
12-07-2006 04:03:11 6663.8
11-07-2006 01:01:29 4824.5
10-07-2006 06:19:35 5041.2
Stick in there, you'll get it sorted.

I wish I could provide an answer. I joined Plusnet on the strength of their
CS reputation which put them above the average. While ATM I have no major
complaints their deterioration in CS ( and that alone, 'cos CS is very
important to me in any company) doesn't IMHO bode well for them as a viable
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...

I agree they were superb for some considerable time after I had joined them
too. I suppose they've tried to grow too quickly and have emulated the
failings of so many in the past. I think they still strive to maintain
the same ethos they had but have completely overstretched themselves.
Still, there seem to be so many customers prepared to get out, perhaps
when the loading on their resources has decreased they may get back to
offering the service they did in the past.

Oh b*ms. Can't get on line with broadband at all this morning with PN.
Their 'phone status says they carried out maintenance last night and some
customers may not now be able to connect - they advise - disconnect all your
equipment and try again in an hour's time. I wonder if it was one of their
overnight planned maintenance sessions that caused my connection speed to
drop to 288 kbps overnight on 5/6 of July? :(
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
|
Well got home and tried again -still connec. Silly me forgot to have the
connections unplugged for an hour as they suggested on 08450020173. Will
give that a go and try again. Then if it doesn't w*rk I suppose it's the
0845 help line - and then the 50p per minute line - This is getting to be so
frustrating to say the least. In case you're wondering, I downloaded
these messages to read offline, usinf my Tiscali Classic PAYG connection.
That is only connecting at 28.8 kbps (earlier in the week it was 46 kbps) -
looks like everything is going pear shaped here . :(

But I like the 250 Mb of webspace I've got. That'd mean transferring all my
pages elsewhere. I'd find that a bit of a bind. :(

I agree, although I don't use my web space I can't seem to get round to=20
setting it up, but I do like the way the cost of my connection has=20
dropped from =A320+ to =A314.99 and I never had to ask once or opt in or =
opt=20
out of anything.
I like the way they keep me informed of all the problems that appear on=20
the system (an RSS feed from their Service Posting Status) Ok some of=20
their posts seem to generate confusion amongst some users, but that=20
doesn't always seem to be a PlusNet problem more to do with poor=20
comprehension skills of the readers.
On the whole my Internet connection keeps going, which is what I want,=20
and until all this DSLMax stuff was very stable. I'm sure this will all=20
shake out when BT get their act together. I think I've said it before=20
but my issue has always been with BT not PlusNet.
PlusNet does seem to have high proportion of professional whingers who=20
make a minor glitch into a major issue and threaten to leave at the drop =
of a hat, although few ever seem to actually carry out that threat. In=20
fact in the year 2004 there were 90,000 customers and in 2005 176,000=20
they're hardly losing custom. But... there lies the problem, customer=20
growth beyond their infrastructure capability.
And the number of repeat complaints about the same answered issue is=20
staggering. I find someone has already answered the question I have=20
before I even thought of the question.
