BunnyHare...
Mum arrived home about tea time yesterday and I had a long chat to her last
night. She sounds really cheerful and was obviously very pleased to be back
home. Carers called in about 7 to check that she had settled in ok and had
everything she needed for the night and they are coming again this morning.
We now also have the promise of a further assessment on Thursday to see what
her needs might be in the future
My brother thinks this came about because he mentioned that his sister would

You must be relieved to get her home again Barb, and she will be pleased
also, it's up to the carers now to look after her well.

be arriving and would be having words!!!

Glad to hear Mum is pleased and happy to be home Barb. I know you will do
your best for her Thursday :-)

One reply does all again
Yes, she seems to be settling in ok. We are to have an assessment meeting
to see what needs to be arranged in the way of care for Mum. Seems though
that she is capable of washing and dressing and getting herself in and out
of bed so it might just be a case of re-thinking meals because, at least
until she gets steadier on her feet, it may be an idea for her not to use
the cooker (certainly not pans of boiling water doing vegetables.)
Yes she does have a neckline thingy and bell pulls around the house so it
may be that she won't actually need any help other than the warden just
popping her head in each morning.
I will be able to see for myself when I get over there but seems that things
may be better than I had imagined by talking to my brother

We have a few people in our apartments in similar circumstances to your Mum
Barb
and they seem to get around alright some of the more able people look in on
them and help with shopping etc. We also have a meals service calls each day
which they just have to hot it up in their microwaves.(I think it is a
private Company, not Council.)

BunnyHare...
Yes, that is what they have where Mum lives, Jackie
The problem we have is that she flatly refuses to have a microwave and says
the meals taste like cardboard! My brother has heard of an electric
steamer, put 4 tablespoons of water in the bottom, meal in the next
compartment, pudding in the next. Switch on and about 25 mins later meal is
ready. Audible alert when it is ready and cut out if you forget/don't hear
it and it boils dry. Discussions taking place and hopefully she will use
one of those

Your Mum will be so pleased to be back home. Do hope everything goes well
for her.
