I think that every time clean out my pond, Jackie.
You'd wonder where it all comes from
Hope the fishes are ok in their paddling pool

That's unusual - I never get any in my larger pond, yet the smaller one
needs a good clean out annually.

The Pond men are back today to start the rebuilding, don't know how long it
will take!
|
|
taken 3 men ages to clear it all. The fish have all been put into a large
rubber paddling pool, hundreds of them including tiny babies. It is
sweltering in the heat but these men say they love it!It is costing over
£3,000 with more filters etc.

I would think the fish are suffering most since they can't get to the deeper
cooler water. Sounds like the men cold be having boiled fish for dinner.

he!he! perhaps Del-boy our cat will??? no, they have put a net over the top
of their temporary pool!

I think the fishes will be o.k. FN it is a very big paddling pool and they
have the water they were in with weeds etc for shelter.
I think they are coming back tomorrow to carry on with re-lining the pool, I
think they are going to make it deeper.

It's a worrying time for fish - recently thousands died in the river Don up
here due to the flooding pushing raw sewage into the river. It was warm
then, but now we've got this heat wave which reduces the water's oxygen
content. My fish seem OK. The large pond is in the shade of a conifer
for most of the day and around noon the water temp was only 20°C (about 10°C
below the air temp ). My smaller pond is in sunlight all day so I've got
about ½ of it covered to give extra shade for the fish - water temperature
there is 25°C. In addition to the influx of water - stirring up and so
helping oxygenation, both ponds have air stones bubbling air through the
water with lots of oxygenating Canadian pond weed for good measure.

That doesn't sound good for the fishes in this weather. I hope for their
sake that the pool is filtered, and preferably some air bubbled into the
water. If there are any casualties, I think RSPCA should be informed.

All o.k. BoyPete the pool is filtered and bubbled, it is a proper Pond
Company that is doing the job!
Is your Mum back local again yet??
