Got it all working just fine - playing - recording etc. etc. Very happy
with it.
Big problem !
I've suddenly remembered that I don't watch TV.

Yeah well that thought did cross my mind when you were talking about it
*but* you can always watch it with your eyes closed :-)
|
Bit of a waste of money me thinks :-)))))
What can I do ? Any suggestions ?

There's bound to be something on TV that you like - BBC nature
documentaries and things? Well with the correct software you can schedule
the PC to record the programmes you like onto hard disk and then you can
burn them to DVD for later viewing. I believe there's an option to record a
whole series and it will do even if the TV scheduling changes.

Although I consider 90% of stuff on TV to be absolute rubbish, I agree that
there are some things on TV that would interest me. My problem is that I
just can't sit in front of a TV - I don't stay in any room with a TV
switched on. Can't explain it but it just makes me feel bad. The one
exception was the GPs - I've watched them on TV for many years although I'm
beginning to not enjoy them and didn't watch them all last year. The
thought of using my computer in the same room as a switched on TV has me
totally bewildered - I could not contemplate it.
Playing with my new toy, I've been looking at the available channels. I'm
absolutely amazed at some of the stuff shown on some of them. Little wonder
this country is getting into such a terrible state. I really think a lot of
what I've seen in the last couple of days should be illegal - especially
for children to watch.
BTW - the reason I bought my new toy was to check out Freeview - not to
watch TV on my pc :-) We're thinking of buying a DVD recorder with Freeview
and HDD for my wife. I wouldn't be using it :-)

That's ok, we believe you.

Radio Rules ! :-)

I've been toying with getting one of these for a while. TV programming is
never convenient for me (I'm not one to stop what I'm doing just to watch
something) and I can never be arsed with the VCR (finding a blank space on
a tape takes ages!). With the PCTV things you just say "I fancy watching
that" and it captures it for you, no need to find a blank tape, very little
effort at all. Well, so long as you have sufficient hard disk space that
is. Then you can watch things at your own convenience. In both senses if
you have a laptop ;-)

Well why can't you just succumb quietly like the rest of us.
I've been glued to my TV from 19-00 until a few minutes ago - including
VCR'd stuff I had from earlier. :)

use it for the digital radio channels?
Troy's Human...

Doing that :-)
Unfortunately the 2 radio stations I listen to a lot are not available on
freeview. Other stations are also available online or on my DAB radio.
