S+R Team.

We had to "fire"a team member recently. He was responsible for the
publicity and promotion of the team.

This much be so frustrating - after all you give your time freely.
Hope you come across people who do really appreciate your efforts at times.

After he left all efforts to get contact info for organisers for things he
booked us in at ignored.

On Monday I got the name and phone number for an organiser for an event on
Saturday, only been trying since beginning of May. After juggling with
another event we were at both Saturday and Sunday, managed to be able to get
the Team to the first event Saturday and the other Sunday only.

Got a phone call this morning calling us out on Saturday to a major Police
enquiry involving 4 other S+R teams, so had to phone Saturday organiser up
to cancel us attending.

Now he'd put us by a gate for a quick getaway in case of a call out, and
wanted to know why we weren't going. We could have turned up then left,
which would have left him in the same position, but decided to give him some
notice. Was he grateful, NO. (Q). Well why can't the Face Painters come.
(A). They are qualified searchers and are needed.

Comment. I hope I don't get lost and you are called out to find me, and
something about a brewery.

He appears to have absolutely no idea of what a S+R Team do and wasn't
interested as long as it didn't interfere with his little event.

We are booked at another event in August through someone else who works with
him so I've had to send a long e-mail off to him to explain before the
rumours and innuendos start, and see if they still want us to attend their

IMHO they are lucky to have been given a second chance. I know you raise
funds at these events but it's not one sided, you attract people to the
events. I hope your contact this time is the one with the brain cell :-)

Well, the paperwork's arrived for the booking so I'm enclosing a letter
explaining what we'd LIKE to do and leaving the decision on spacing with
him.

Have also pointed out that we will still be "on call" for Cheshire Police.

Oh dear, sounds to me as if someone needs some educating. I bet if you
were called out for one of his family he would soon change his tune
