How do people find gnome as compared to kdf?

My attempts to get a decent radio station to listen to in the bedroom
haven't been too successful. The AE Wi Fi radio which streams radio off
the Internet is subject to interference (which I can't track down) and to
frequent periods of silence when it loses the station.
In desperation I ordered a Sky Gnome on Wednesday and it arrived
yesterday, I've been charging it over night. The transmitter plugs into
the Sky (or Sky+) box - four cables - and is currently sitting on top of
the TV. The radio part is in the bedroom and picks up the signal from the
transmitter so I can hear whatever channel is tuned in on the Sky box. The
radio also sends signals back to the Sky box so I can change channels from
the bedroom.
It seems to transmit in the FM band (which which I thought was illegal up
to now but is about to change) and is interference free (doesn't interfere
with the WAP either). The only thing it doesn't have is an alarm function
so it doesn't turn itself on in the morning to wake me up. The radio is
battery powered so you could use it round the house/garden, up to about 30
metres from the base station according to the instructions.
Neat bit of kit if anybody is thinking of one.

It's well worth the £69-99 then, is it? Any idea what it's range is?
Could I use it at the other end of my 70 foot jungle?

Yep I downloaded the manual and scrutinized that. It is 30 metre - not 30
foot.

It's a yes and maybe :-)
The range for 2 way comms is 30 *metres* - and up to 100 metres for audio
reception, so once you're tuned to the channel you want you may be
pleasantly surprised. I'll wander down the garden with it later and let

As I see it, the only real use I could put it to is listening to something
like the news channels when I'm out and about in the jungle or in a
different room from my TV. I've just checked the list of 80 radio channels
that are available and I don't listen to any of them very much - except
radio 5 live for sport. So with 2 portable radios in the house I don't
think it's gonna be much use to me.

I can't pick up terrestrial signals here so I'm pretty well dependent on

Our local terrestrial transmitter is only about ¾ mile away so terrestrial
TV isn't a problem, and I can pick up BBC Radio Leeds and Lincoln up quite
well on the portables.
