Firewall ???

Could anyone recommend a good firewall to use as I am helping a friend
set-up her new laptop.
A free one please!!

As in your other thread, if you use Sygate, know it and it's quirks,
wouldn't it be easier to help your friend using that ? You did save the
download didn't you ? :-)

Yes Sandra I have saved Sygate, I did think about doing as you suggest, I
find it quite trouble free so I think I will do that.

Zone Alarm is the most user friendly.

I like Zone Alarm, Jackie, but there again I've never tried any of the
others out there :-)

I'd second that Mike, but I gather some techies in here prefer Kerio - they
say that it's a real firewall, but it's too complicated for simplistic

I did use Zone Alarm with the W98 but I think I did get some problems so I
think I will do as Sandra suggests down

The firewall is free, the trial refers to the web filtering part of the
programme..which I didn't even try cos I already have that covered with a
specific prog.

I use it on my XP m/c and the W98 m/c. Thaere's also a firewall in my
router.
