John the R-T...
No broadband connection at all today.

John the R-T...
I'm back! I think!

Rabbit...
If you think, you are :-)

John the R-T...
Lated 100 minutes so far. A lot better than the 100 seconds I've been
getting.

Rabbit...
And have you brokted it today or has it done another few hundred ?

John the R-T...
Nope, steady today.
Just to make FN jealouse

Mine's slowly getting better.

These results appear to be rather fast: maybe this page was in the

MCC...
From where are you getting those figures, please, John?

John the R-T...
Robin Walkers site is all about NTL with a simple test at

MCC...
Thanks for that, John.
Dunno if it works from outside NTL but these are the figures I got.

"Tue, 07 Nov 2006 16:49:41 GMT

3rd 128K took 234 ms = 560137 Bytes/sec = approx 4660 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 297 ms = 441320 Bytes/sec = approx 3672 kbits/sec

Never had that complaint before :-)

John the R-T...
I think the test is rather old and before the speed upgrades by NTL.

That site tells me I need javascript enabled and version 7 of Flash.
I have both!

http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/ reports 5480 kbps down and 368 kbps up

When the engineer(????) installed the new modem last week he failed to
check the cable. New modem got fried as there was a fault so I now
have yet another. Took four hours for NTL to register it. :-(

Looks good then. Just tried mine and got:

John the R-T...
Yep as I'm on a 2Mb connection. Far better than the 56kb on
Freeserve/Wanabee/Orange dialup I've been mostly using for the past 12
days.

4th 128K took 0 ms = Infinity Bytes/sec = approx Infinity kbits/sec

I do not belieeeve it. Tried again ad got this:

1st 128K took 297 ms = 441320 Bytes/sec = approx 3672 kbits/sec

4th 128K took 312 ms = 420103 Bytes/sec = approx 3495 kbits/sec

which seems much more reasonable. :)

Rabbit...
You haven't brokted that nice new box already ??? :-)

John the R-T...
Nope. Local area problem evidently.
