I need to mix up a small amount of mortar to fill a hole in red/brown
brick wall and i want to know if anyone knows what i could use to add
colour to the mortar to mactch my bricks. I know you can buy large
quantities of colouring but i only want to mix up a large dog food tin
quantity.

How about paint stainers for water based paints? I'm not 100% sure
that you can still readily buy paint stainers but you could try a
trade paint place. I couldn't guarantee that they would do the job...
but it has to be worth a try if nothing else.

Have you any of the actual bricks, Len? One of them crushed up and added to
the mortar might do the job.

Haven't you got a nice healthy thumb. In my experience, that's what most
people seem to use. LOL
