BoyPete...
Finally got to plug the new system in this morning. Hit the power button,
and all the fans etc...whiz into life, but that's about all. HDD light comes
on for about 15 seconds. No POST beeps, nothing on monitor.Checked IDE
cables fully seated, changed cable. Never had this happen before, so I'm a
bit lost as to where to start looking.

Jeff Gaines...
I had this happen on a dual processor Athlon PC I built. It transpired I
had managed to get one heat-sink on back to front and the BIOS cut the
power as the CPU heated up. I said a big thank you to Asus for that, saved
me the cost of a new CPU :-)

BoyPete...
Hehe.........I've done that too :)
However, if the CPU overheats, which only takes a few seconds, surely the
machine beeps it's head off? Mine did.

Jeff Gaines...
It may depend on the mobo, mine just turned the power off. Took me a while
to discover the problem too!

Bram...
Only if you have remembered to connect the speaker.

Duff Memory ?

BoyPete...
Well, it's as possible as several other things. 2 x 512 sticks of Kingston
installed in slots 1 & 2. I'll play with it.
Ta :)

Old Grizzly...
if you are really stuck you could try resetting the cmos Pete :)

BoyPete...
Good thought Len, just tried that to no avail.

JoeH...
Agreed, take the memory our and try to boot.. If the Mobo is OK then you
should get a "no memory installed" type beep. If you don't get that the the
mobo may be suspect..

BoyPete...
Tried swapping sticks around, one only, and none. Also tried without any IDE
devices connected. Still no POST.

Ali...
You've got power to the fans and HDD, but have you got power to the mobo?

BoyPete...
I 'guess' so, as the fan on the graphics card is working (PCI-E)
