That's why so many teachers try to take early retirement.

I just wish each one of *them* could have one full term in that
situation.... !
I see, frequently, younger women and men in teaching, who are
rapidly ageing, three of them given fifteen, twenty, and twenty-five years
devoted hard work to this, what should be respectful profession, one of whom
is having to give up for health's sake. Another, a friend, gave up some

Is it still a profession?
Professionals are supposed to put their clients before themselves. I
mentally moved teaching from 'profession' to 'trade' when teachers went on
strike for their own benefit some years ago.

years ago, went in a small way into market-gardening, not much money, but
saved his life, he said.

I was able to take it back in 1994 - thank goodness. I could see the way
it was going, even 12 years ago.
