.... sitting outside Mrs Nextdoor's gate. She fell off the ladder about half
an hour ago, managed to get something to knock through to me. I sent for the
ambulance, they sent for another with back board stuff but they need the
fire brigade to manoeuvre the turn in the stair with her strapped to the
back board. or possible get her out the window whichever way they can
without putting her upright.
And that's the talk of the wash house here today :-)
Pam the goose...
|
Wow, that's a big happening you and she would rather have done without.
I take it you haven't spoken to her yet?
If you have, how does she seem? Hope it's better than the ambo people seem
to imply. Perhaps they're just being careful - hope so!
Rabbit...
|
The ambulance guys were playing it safe, she has definitely hurt her back
and her legs were twisted through the rungs of the step ladder.
|
Good job you were in, isn't it?
Rabbit...
|
It actually took me about five or ten minutes ( must have seemed like hours
to her) to realise what the banging and shouting were. They haven't actually
moved in yet and there's been hammering and noises for weeks now so the
banging didn't immediately alert me. There's a concert in a nearby park (
loud) so the shouting didn't immediately get through. Even as I was going in
her door I was sure I was going to be making a fool of myself, but I'm glad
Pam the goose...
|
Well, yes, I can understand you not realising what it was.
Rabbit...
|
Thanks 'cos I felt a bit guilty taking so long to jbex it out.
|
Lucky the door was unlocked - none of ours would be.
Rabbit...
|
OK the house is empty but I reckon I'd still have had my door locked if I
was in there on my own. Maybe something to think about.
|
|
I did now.
|
|
Aries...
|
Goodness me, poor woman. Thank goodness you were home at the time and she
was able to contact you!
donut...
|
Oh dear Sandra - do hope she is ok - what a good job she was able to knock
for you. Give yourself the 'good neighbour award'!
Rabbit...
|
I suspect they will keep her in overnight anyway, she was in shock apart
from the pain.
|
Rabbit...
|
We'd all have done it for each other in this bit of the street, good
neighbours all.

Hope she's OK, You do live in an exciting area Sandra. Nothing like that
Rabbit...
|
Nah usually quite dull. This will be the talk of the wash house for weeks
and what an entrance to the street. Corrie couldn't have done better :-)
|
except the local bread bakery: Fletcher's was burnt to the ground earlier
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
|
Fletcher's burning down yesterday got a mention on W*rking Lunch (BBC2)
today - so it must be important.
|
Rabbit...
|
Oh I'm partial to well fired rolls :-)
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
|
Me too, but what will I do for the next supply? :(
Rabbit...
|
Get down there, grab the lot and freeze them :-)
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
|
Not a chance - I'm in the bike sheds.
BunnyHare...
|
Ooh dear. Hope they are just taking precautions and that she is not too
badly hurt.
Good job you were there to call the ambulance
Rabbit...
|
And since they haven't moved in yet it's also a good reason to get to know
your neighbours quickly :-)
|
Do keep us posted on her progress
Rabbit...
|
Her husband is going to let me know later. I'm sure she will be OK but even
I know that you can't be too careful with a back injury.
Foxy at w*rk...
|
How is your neigbour now Sandra
Rabbit...
|
Just heard tonight that she's OK, not done any serious damage but aggravated
a previous back injury so she needs to take it easy for a little while. I
BunnyHare...
|
Pleased to hear that your neighbour is not too badly injured. Nice of
her to send you a message and some chocs. I think you will have a good
neighbour there
|
got a lovely *thank you* card and a box of chocolates from her. I guess
though that it won't be long till she is back jbexing there. The previous

|
So glad she is not too badly injured, good of her to give you choccies and a
note. Looks like you will have a new friend to meet by the wheelie bins
soon!!
|
occupant was an old lady and the house did need a lot of jbex, she really
has been jbexing hard on it as well as holding down a full time job.
Foxy at w*rk...
|
Glad she isn't too bad Sandra. How nice of her to send chocs :-)
jamps...
|
Did someone mention chocs?? Hide them quickly 'cos someone I know cannot
resist them,!
|
|
|
Rabbit...
|
Nobody there today except jbexmen, I imagine he would be at jbex since his
car has gone, and while I know where he jbexes I don't have contact details
to call. I'm going with the no news is good news.

Jackie...
|
oh dear! the lady is so lucky you were at home and able to call the
ambulance. I do hope she is o.k. not a very good start if she was moving in!
Rabbit...
|
Still not heard anything but OTOH somebody has collected a car from outside
and closed the blinds. Whether it was the husband or MIL I don't know but
it's possible the husband thought it was too late to phone me, they don't
really know me after all. I am hoping to hear some good news tomorrow.
