Can anybody point me in the direction of free channels available with a
satellite dish?

A comprehensive list of tv and radio channels. But you need a £20
freesat card. No further payments.
|
The Sky website does list them, but I am sure some are not included.
I always thought Euronews, Sky News etc. were free, but they are not
listed.
It is all meant to confuse methinks.
I really do not watch much TV, and I just wondered what I was really paying
for.
The Sky subscription keeps going up, when one would have thought the
opposite with customers being added all the time?

If you take your Sky viewing card out of its slot, & go through the
channels. You will see exactly, what you get for free. All pay ones will
scramble.

Are you sure about that?
I think even some of the free channels only work if there is a card in
the slot, which is why you need the freesat card.
Of course I could be talking utter rubbish.

I was under the impression that the Freesat card just put BBC1 and ITV1 for
your local area on Channels 101 and 103 respectively. If you take the card
out you'll get BBC1 London on 101 - can't remember what you get on 103 and
I'm too idle to go back downstairs, having just come up after lunch, to
find out :-))

ITV has delayed the launch of its joint-venture 'Freesat' service
with the BBC, according to a report in the Independent On Sunday.
The new service - the equivalent of Freeview for satellite - was
announced last year and had been expected to be up and running by
this June.
Now ITV is said to have forced a "rethink" of the plans in order to
concentrate on marketing Freeview, which is now in an estimated 7
million homes.

There are free channels and "free channels". Some of the channels
offered by Sky FOC are only offered to people who subscribe to a
certain level. How this can be called free I don't know, nor do I
agree but there you are.
There are some free channels that need no subscription and are FOC.
These are what I think most folk call Free. That is certainly the way
I think.
UKP 20 will get you one card valid for about 3-4 years.
Sky Digital - Freesat
Some good general digital Sat stuff
Hope some of this is some help to someone.
