MCC...
Son David phoned a short time ago to say that he had had to call the Vet to
have their Golden Retriever 'Holly' put to sleep.
She was 14 years old, nearly blind and quite deaf, so I suppose the end was
inevitable but it hurts to think I'll not see her again.

BunnyHare...
Its always sad at a time like this and I hope that my late reply to your
post doesn't bring back too many painful memories.
I am sure you will all miss Holly but will have some wonderful memories
of her time with you and will know that you gave her a very happy life

She was a gentle and tolerant dog, especially with Rebecca and Emma.
They must be absolutely devastated.
I shall miss her.

Troy's Human...
That's so sad Mike. I know *exactly* how you all must be feeling and my
thoughts are with you.

Charlie Drake...
Sorry to hear your news Mike, retrievers are such loving dogs.

That's very sad Mike, but at least she appears to have had a good life and
ws loved by all.

jackie...
So sorry to hear about Holly, the whole family must be very upset. We had a
dog named Rex that lived for 16 years and I still think about him and miss
him.

jamps...
Such sad news Mike. My thoughts are with you all.
The time will come before long for me to say goodbye to.*my* Holly.
She's nearly 14 years old and during the last 12 months has really shown her
age.
What used to be a brisk walk is now a very slow amble but, given the chance,
she would still eat me out of house and home! I'm sure she is painfree
though and fairly deaf but still appears to enjoy life. If I thought she
was suffering in any way I would know what to do. I will not let her
suffer.

Linedancer...
It's very sad to lose a much loved pet, I know how it feels Mike, my
thoughts are with you all.

I know the feelings Mike, I can't believe it'll be two years in May that we
lost Tess, Still miss her now.
RIP Holly.

Foxy at w**k...
My condolences to your Son and his family Mike. Been there and it's not
nice

Wrinklie One =?iso-8859-1?Q?=A9?=...
We know that when we take an animal into the family their life
expectancy is a lot shorter than ours. Even so, when the time comes for
them to leave us it is quite a wrench, for they do become a family
member and return the love we shower upon them in so many ways...
Her passing is also a part of growing up for Emma and Rebecca in their
journey through life...

RIP Holly

Paul Jeffree...
Yes, it really hurts. The main comfort is that you all gave her a good life.
We still come across the odd hair and other reminders of our Jimmy 30 years
after he went!

Bill P...
Sorry to hear that Mike. Pets lives are so short, but often filled with
love.

Tyke...
Sorry to hear that Mike.

Rabbit...
Sad news. She used to come to you for her jollidays didn't she ?

MCC...

Smokey...
Sorry bout that Mike, it's a brave decision to make. RIP Holly

Anita Carter...
So sorry to read that Mike, what a lovely dog. But you and they will always
have fond memories to look back on :)
Yes, she usually stayed with us whenever the family went away or even just
out for the day. I shall miss her visits. She knew exactly where her doggy
biscuit tin was kept :-)

Splodge...
That's very sad Mike. I'm so sorry
Splodge

Aries...
Condolences to David and his family for the loss of a much loved pet :(
Shame our pets have such short lives, but when they are with us they give
us so much love and loyalty it's very hard when it's time for them to go :(

Lovely cuddly picture of Holly and yourself Mike - one to treasure :)

Holly was a beautiful dog. Your son is hurt & you will all
miss Holly. The life span of a dog is short. God made it
that way so he could be surrounded by these loving creatures
with out waiting long. I believe heaven is not only for humans
but animals too. Holly is a great addition. It's sad but some
day we will all be together. Holly is okay & happy now. It's
an awful loss to your family though, & they have my deepest
sympathy.
