John the R-T...
No need to install anything (I hope).

Anita Carter...
Wow, that is the best tutorial I have seen for a long time :)

John the R-T...
Thank you very much. Just hope that someone uses it.

jamps...
Excellent J-RT. A bit slow to load. Even I could follow those instructions.
:-)

John the R-T...
Thank you. I'll see if I can creat a .pdf for downloading.

Aries...
Prawperrr jawb ;)

John the R-T...
Ta. I fixted my post!
Created .pdf

pmj...
That's great!!!
A nice Tutorial/Demo!
:-)

That Wink thingy is good, innit?
:-)

John the R-T...
It's brilliant.

But I take issue with one bit of what you did in it...

You suggest *Left* Dragging the Pic, to Copy it to the Folder
(from where it's stored)

I would always suggest *Right*Dragging.

Cos when you Left Drag, you can't always be sure if it's going
to Copy the File (leaving the original one where it was, which
is what you want), or if it's going to *Move* the File! - Thus
Deleting it from where it was!

What happens when you LeftDrag a File from one place to another,
depends on what Drive(s) the things happen to be on. (& whether you
Hold CTRL Down while Dragging) to give a Copy always, or SHIFT,
to Move always)

If you use *Right*Drag, then you get a nice, handy Menu, when you
Release the Button, giving the Options, "Copy", "Move" & - perhaps
most importantly(?) "Cancel"!

If you always get into the habit of Right Dragging, you can avoid
many mistakes & Errors & Accidents!
:-)

John the R-T...
So that's why my picures/files sometimes move and at other timed copy.

pmj...
Yep!

Didn't know that. Will amend.

pmj...
Basically, when Left Dragging, it does (When you release the Mouse
Button) whatever is the Action that is in *Bold*, on the Right Click
Context Menu.

John the R-T...

Thanks pmj.

Aries...
I've saved your tut and will test it out, thanks very much for doing that
for us John, much appreciated :)

John the R-T...
YW. I find that Arachnophilia makes cleaner code than some of the
other programmes I've used.
Under the new tab there are 17 different file types that it can write.
So far I've only tried HTML and Javascript.

Aries...
I'm looking forward to the next lesson :)

John the R-T...
Thinking hard!

& if the File is being Dragged to (a Folder on) the *same Drive*
then it does a Move, but if it's being Dragged to (a Folder on)
a *different Drive*, it does a Copy.

You can force a Move (regardless of where it's going to & from)
By Holding down the SHIFT Key, before & while Dragging it
(think: SHIFT = Move)

& you can Force a Copy, by Holding Down the CTRL Key, before & while
Dragging it (Think: CTRL = Copy)

But that means using the Keyboard.
& I know many people don't like (or even know about!) using the
Keyboard (& they especially don't like using the Keyboard & the
Mouse at the same Time).

But I reckon it's actually far easier (once you have found out
about/learned about/had it pointed out to you), to just get in the
Habit of using RightDrag.

& that also has the advantage of giving you a "Cancel" Option, when
you Release the Mouse Button, in case you realise you are Dragging
the wrong File (or dragging it to the wrong place)

You can use the [Escape] Key to Abort it, but again, that needs you
to remember to use the Keyboard.

If you *do* accidentally Move/Copy something wrong, you *can* also
use CTRL+Z which is "Undo" the last Action, but that means remembering
yet another Keyboard Sequence.

& you usually don't realise that you've done a wrong Move/Copy until
after you've Moved/Copied something else, so CTRL+Z won't work for it.

Also, one minor niggle about the Page (& Pic) itself!...
You didn't show how to make the Pic Centred on the Page!
:-)

I think most people prefer to have & see Pics Centred on a Web Page.
:-)

John the R-T...
That comes in the more advanced tutorial! This first one is a 'lead
me by the hand' tut for beginners.
I'm thinking about the next one and what to include/leave out.
Certainly include how to centre pics/text, more than one page and
linking them together.

shaz...
Ok brilliant. I downloaded Arachnophilia and followed all your instructions.
I got my picture to show in my browser. Will look forward to seeing the next
tutorial- soon please. A big hug for making it easy.

John the R-T...
No, thank *you* Shaz for being the first one to try it.

(((hugs you back)))
